How to manage two-factor authentication in OrbiSCADA

This article explains how to enable or disable two-factor authentication for your OrbiSCADA user account.

Two-factor authentication, also called 2FA, adds an extra layer of security to your account. When 2FA is enabled, logging in requires both your OrbiSCADA password and a verification code from an authenticator app.

Open your security settings

  1. Log in to OrbiSCADA.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, click Account.
  3. Open the Security tab.

Here you can view and manage two-factor authentication for your own user account.

Enable two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication is disabled by default. If you want to use 2FA, you must enable it yourself from your account security settings.

To enable 2FA:

  1. Go to Account in the left sidebar menu.
  2. Open the Security tab.
  3. Find the Two-factor authentication section.
  4. Start the 2FA activation process.
  5. Use an authenticator app on your phone to scan the QR code shown on the screen.
  6. Enter the verification code from your authenticator app.
  7. Confirm the activation.

After activation, your account will require a verification code from your authenticator app when logging in.

Manual setup

If you cannot scan the QR code, you can add the 2FA entry manually in your authenticator app. The activation screen will show the details needed for manual setup, including:

  • Account
  • Key
  • Time based: Yes

Enter these details in your authenticator app, then use the generated verification code to complete the activation.

Check whether 2FA is enabled

In the Security tab, the current 2FA status is shown under Two-factor authentication. If 2FA is active, the status will show: Enabled. This means two-factor authentication is currently enabled for your OrbiSCADA account.
