The Information tab in OrbiSCADA shows the installation address for a selected controller and includes a Navigate to position button. This feature is useful for service inspections, site visits and technicians who need directions to the actual installation address.
Therefore it is important that the installation address and coordinates match the real installation site.
Where to find the installation address
- Log in to OrbiSCADA
- Open the controller
- Select the Information tab
- Go to Additional information
- Find Service numbers & directions
The installation address is shown in this section.
If available, the Navigate to position button can be used to open the controller position in Google Maps.
Navigate to position
Click Navigate to position to open Google Maps with the controller coordinates as the destination. If you use this feature on a mobile device, Google Maps can be used to start navigation from your current position to the controller location.
This is useful when:
- A technician needs to find the installation site
- The controller is located in a rural area
- The site is difficult to find from the street address alone
- A service provider needs directions for an inspection or service visit
Why correct coordinates are important
The navigation feature uses the controller position. If the coordinates are incorrect, users may be directed to the wrong location. The installation address and coordinates should point to the actual controller installation site, not only to the owner address, invoice address or nearest road address.
Before submitting or saving location information, check that:
- The coordinates point to the correct turbine or controller position
- The location can be used for navigation by service technicians
- The position is not placed on a nearby house, office or field entrance unless that is the actual service location
Finding coordinates for a new controller
When a new controller is created, the installation position must be added. Partner admin users can select the controller position directly on the map when creating a new controller. When the position is selected on the map, the latitude and longitude are calculated automatically.
If you do not have Partner admin access and need to submit information for a new controller, you can look up the coordinates in Google Maps.
Find coordinates using Google Maps on a computer
- Open Google Maps
- Search for the installation address
- Use satellite view if needed to find the exact turbine or controller location
- Right-click the exact location on the map
- Copy the coordinates shown by Google Maps
- Submit the coordinates together with the installation address
Google Maps usually shows coordinates as decimal degrees, for example:
56.xxxxxx, 8.xxxxxx
The first number is the latitude.
The second number is the longitude.
Find coordinates using Google Maps on a mobile device
- Open Google Maps
- Search for the installation address
- Zoom in to the actual turbine or controller location
- Press and hold the exact position on the map to drop a pin
- Copy or share the coordinates from the pin information
- Submit the coordinates together with the installation address
Editing coordinates for an existing controller
Users with the required permissions can edit the controller location from the Admin tab. To edit the coordinates:
- Open the controller
- Select the Admin tab
- Go to the Edit Controller card
- Update the latitude and longitude fields
- Submit the changes
Note: The Admin tab and the Edit Controller card are only available if your user account has the required permissions for the selected controller.
