Onomondo SIM cards
This article applies to Orbital hardware using Onomondo IoT SIM cards that use Onomondo IoT SIM cards to connect to OrbiSCADA over mobile networks. This article covers what the SIMs do, how the Onomondo platform troubleshoot and the correct APN settings.
About Onomondo SIM cards
Onomondo SIM cards are non-steered, multi-network IoT SIM cards designed for connected devices in the field. This means the SIMs are not locked to one preferred operator by default. Instead, they can connect to available permitted networks, depending on local coverage, SIM configuration, modem settings and supported mobile technology.
APN settings
For Orbital installations using Onomondo SIM cards, the recommended APN setting is:
| Setting | Value |
| APN | onomondo |
| Username | Leave blank |
| Password | Leave blank |
| Authentication type | None / not required |
What Orbital can check in the Onomondo platform
Orbital has access to the Onomondo platform and uses it to support troubleshooting, monitor SIM behaviour, and investigate mobile network connectivity issues. When investigating an issue, Orbital can inspect several useful details for a given SIM, including:
- Whether the SIM card is active
- Whether the SIM is currently online
- Which mobile network the SIM is connected to
- Country and operator information
- ICCID, IMSI and SIM ID
- Approximate cell-based location
- Data usage
- Last time the SIM came online
- Whether the SIM is using an assigned network list
- Modem or device information, where available
